Highest Paying Job in America - It May Not Be What You Think

When asking the question, what is the highest paying job in America, the first thing that comes to most people's mind is either professional athletes or entertainers, but it's hard to think of those professions as jobs in the typical sense, because they look like so much fun. Some of the highest paying jobs for us 'common folk' are in the medical profession, all requiring extensive education, training and a lot of dedication.

If you can handle the high stress and the hours, and anesthesiologist pulls in a Median salary of $292,000 and at the top of the pay scale $408,000 a year. The big salaries are really a payback for the 12 years of training required and the high stress of a 'life or death' job.

Physicians follow with an average yearly median salary of $222,000 along with psychiatrists and nurse anesthesiologists both earning in the high $100K area. It's interesting that the highest paying jobs in America are all in the medical profession. It's certainly saying something about the health of the nation.

Now sales jobs are some of the highest paid jobs in America as well with sales directors pulling in anywhere from $140,000 to $239,000 a year because, lets face it, sales is the lifeblood of any company. A good sales person is always highly sought after by any employer. To be successful in sales however does not have to require a college degree or going to work for someone else.

Let's now take a look at some very profitable jobs that have recently come available as a result of both technology and the internet as well as, believe it or not, the downturn of the world economy. This is a profession that anyone can take part in regardless of college education, background, race, color, or creed. All that is required is a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit and a burning desire to succeed. Internet businesses are earning people as much as $20-$50K per month, some even much more.

Entrepreneurs are successful because they pay attention to emerging trends and position themselves in front of them. Entrepreneurs get rich by solving other people's problems for a profit. With skyrocketing unemployment all over America millions of people search the internet every day for ways to make money online. The home-based business industry is exploding, especially with the advent of the internet. This is literally creating a 'New Economy' online where the recession doesn't seem to exist.
